White Rabbit: My Main 3 Picks

Published on 7 October 2024 at 18:49

Egypt Central, a band formed in 2002, took the internet by storm with their 2011 album, 'White Rabbit'.

If you were also an insomniac who listened to absolutely insane amounts of nightcore during the early 2010's, you might've heard the title track, 'White Rabbit'.

I've been a fan of this song for a really long time, circa 2014/2015, and I refound the band sometime in 2021. I listened to the whole album then, but then forgot which songs I had also liked besides White Rabbit. Finally, I've listened to the whole album again, and I'm happy to say that I truly can give my main three picks for this absolute masterpiece of an album.

It's absolutely perfect if you're into rock, especially with an edgy sound. John Falls' voice is beautiful, and this album is perfect in every aspect.

I'll begin with 'White Rabbit'.
This song means the world to me in a lot of ways. I'm a person who focuses more on instrumentals than lyrics, but I feel like Egypt Central's music gives me a chance to focus on both at the same time. This song is precious to me in many ways, one being, it's obviously Touka Kirishima from Tokyo Ghoul's anthem.

Another one being, like how I said earlier, I've known this song for a long time. It's not every day that you find a gem that your rock music loving parents haven't already heard, especially from a band popular in the early 2000's, so this song was badass to me as a little 7/8 year old in the 2010's, since, I found something that my parents hadn't heard yet!!

I obviously think the world of this song, and I could go off more, but I'm going to move on to my second favorite song off of the White Rabbit album, '15 Minutes'.

I've actually done a cover of this song, and I just recently found out about this gem. When I had listened to this album the first time, I'm not sure if I made note of how amazing this song is, but it definitely stuck with me after this most recent time listening to it.

I think lyrically, it's heavy. It's very similar to Metallica's 'Moth Into Flame' based on topic. It basically is like saying, what would you do for fame? Because we know that being in the limelight isn't everything it seems.

I know that the band had some issues with record labels, due to their having to re-record 'White Rabbit' recently. If you get the chance to listen to the re-record, you definitely should. The song still stays amazing, and John's voice hasn't changed much at all.

Musically, the song is a work of art. The drums are probably my favorite. I love how, if blasted through headphones, it's so hard and so powerful that you can literally feel the music. I tried to make a version of it on my DAW with some synths, and while it definitely isn't the original, it was really fun to play the chords and feel the rhythm for myself.

It's really put together nicely, and I think it's an underrated track. I feel like, while 'White Rabbit', and even 'Kick Ass' were mainly the 'one-hit wonders' of this era, '15 minutes' should've definitely gotten it's own moment to be appreciated.

Let's see.. I think 'Goodnight' is another good one. It's definitely catchy. The lyrics are melancholic, and overall sad, but it pairs perfectly with the instrumental. It's another heavy song.

That's something I really like about Egypt Central's music in the first place; they're an emotive band. I truly do wish for them to get bigger.

If you have the chance to check out the album, please do!! White Rabbits FOREVER!! <3 <3
