After 7 years of no news of Linkin Park returning to the music scene after beloved singer Chester Bennington committed suicide, the band finally announced new music- and a new singer.
The new singer, Emily Armstrong, has stirred up a mixture of opinions. From what I've seen on social media, people either love her, or dislike her.
Plenty of fans, and even close relatives to the late Chester Bennington have spoken out about the band's new rebranding, saying it's disrespectful to Linkin Park's legacy and that they are attempting to replace Chester.
For me, personally, aka the queen of Hot Takes- I don't think that anyone could ever replace Chester Bennington. I think he was incredibly influential on the nu-metal scene and he's one of the most talented vocalists ever.
That being said- I do think that Emily is great in the band. Her voice is also incredible and she fits the 'screamo' vibe that Linkin Park's main vocals have always consisted of.
But, at the end of the day, I'm always going to tend more towards original Linkin Park, just because Chester really did bring a certain edge to the band, that can never be replaced.
But, that's okay!! Because it shouldn't be.
